You never know when or how a small act of kindness will go far and beyond what you could imagine in a day. Today I was on the receiving end. For the past two weeks I’ve taken a shuttle bus. The past two weeks I have seen some of the same faces,at the same times of the day. Little did I know I would thank these strangers for their small act of kindness two weeks into my routine.
Today I was a little late getting to the shuttle. The bus was on the verge of leaving and the next bus doesn’t come for another 25 minutes. On inclement weather days, you don’t want to miss that bus.
Today after work, the people on the bus told the bus driver to wait for me. He literally would have left me there, but they waited for me.
I was very thankful and made sure everyone on the bus knew I really appreciated it! I’ll try to make cookies next week to thank everyone for their kindness.
They told me they told the bus driver to wait for me because they liked my good sense of humor and conversation the past week and some days. Nothing changed today, we all were cracking jokes and talking just like any other day on the bus.
There were some new faces on the bus today that do not normally catch that shuttle time, but it was nice to hear them say ” Man, I should really catch the 4:30 bus more often. This bus ride is the fun and happy group.”
I actually like this group of people. I see them bright and early in the morning and at the end of my work day.
They might have thought holding the bus for me was no big deal, but that act of kindness made sure I didn’t add 30 extra minutes to my commute. I have to take not only a bus shuttle everyday, but then drive home in rush hour traffic after getting off the bus. It’s a long day, but I cannot say that what I do is not rewarding at the end of the day because my actions throughout the day touch lives.
Today one act of kindness truly touched my life. It’s the little things that count. Today a woman told me God is going to bless me simply from listening to her just vent about her current life situation and the things she regretted throughout her life. I didn’t judge her. I just listened. Sometimes it is just nice to have someone listen to you. I mean really listen to you. So, I let her borrow my ears.
It’s just nice to meet kind souls. Yes, I thought this was news worthy. So, here is the blog post.
