During the Women’s March, recently married couple Allison Baker and Marko Milincic were not paying very much attention to the women’s marches taking place around the globe. It was, after all, their wedding day. However, after getting stuck in traffic six blocks from where they were to meet their wedding photographer, Jai Girard, the couple decided to brave the march.

In an interview with Yahoo Style, Baker explained what happened next. “Once we stepped out the door everyone was clapping and cheering,” she said, “They parted the march for us and then they started surrounding us. They started chanting, ‘Love wins!’ and ‘Love trumps hate!’ It was all about love and acceptance.” Read the full interview ‘The Women’s March paused and cheered for a Chicago couples wedding pics.’

The bride, Allison Baker on her wedding day thoughts

Jai Girard on working with the bride

  • Working with the bride: “I’ve had so many brides and grooms that wouldn’t even let their dress touch the hotel carpeting, let alone go outside. This bride was literally walking six blocks down Monroe Avenue without one complaint, with her hair flying everywhere.”
  • Her top advice for the wedding day: “Instead of getting upset about what was happening, you’ve just got to make it work for you — and have the courage to do it.”
