I Don’t Want To Be Your Michael Jordan

If I ever get enough exposure where my voice could move souls or impact a community positively & tremendously, I don’t want to be a Michael Jordan. He never was much of a social activist. Now, Muhammad Ali, he stood for something- social activist and philanthropist. I don’t want to be portrayed as just another form of entertainment – rampant individualism, profit without conscience. I want to be a leader. I want to help people get out of culture shackles. I want people to not be afraid to voice themselves. I want people to pursue their dreams. Don’t ask me to fit your stereotypes. Don’t ask me to keep in line. My calling isn’t corporatism. It’s human rights.

How Black Owed Businesses Can Make Baltimore Thrive

In no shape or form do I want to be a radical of society. However, what I am about to say comes from the heart & I mean every word. A poverty ridden city like Baltimore could reduce crime & get homeless people off the street by establishing thriving black owed businesses. How is that possible? Well for one it will strengthen the identity of the black man and black woman. Blacks shouldn’t feel like half people because we are not half people. We have souls. We have intelligence. We have great ideas. If black owed businesses can grow from the grassroots, Baltimore can slowly but surely eradicate poverty in Baltimore. Black owed businesses could create paid work opportunities for blacks with criminal records, for homeless people & teach black students that they can someday run their own businesses. These businesses can be successful. These business can revive the unity of black families by working together to make black businesses succeed far beyond our imagination. We can even go further and create that networking bridge with Africa to connect black businesses here with black businesses in Africa and other emerging enterprises in developing countries. It’s not about one party benefiting. It’s about making all communities involved gain benefits. The black community needs to invest in emerging markets such as those in Africa, as this is vital. These are just thoughts but someday they will be actions . It starts with us. It starts now.

My Open Letter To Superman: Dear Joshua

Dear Josh,

You have cared for me everyday for who I am. With you, I am experiencing happiness only few women come across. When I wake up next to you or know I will see you soon, I light up because I love it when you are there. That’s true of every place, every space and every time.

I’m no Shakespeare but I was moved to write this letter to you because I know how I feel. I feel like the luckiest woman in the entire world because I have you in my life. Life with you in it is, indeed, a gift. You have taught me to make every day count, leaving no room for regrets.

I admire your mental, physical and spiritual strength everyday.

When you hold me, lift me up, touch my waist or just slowly move your fingers across every curve of my body, not only do I feel the most protected and safe but I feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. When I have a stressful day, you’re always ready to rub my feet and hold me to let me know everything is going to be okay. Even when you’re stressed, you still put me first.

I love when your beautiful brown eyes can’t keep off of me. And you may think every Black guy has eyes like yours but your eyes are special. Your eyes are the most gorgeous and intense eyes I have ever seen! I love especially looking in your eyes when I lay my head in your lap. In that angle, the sun perfectly hits your beautiful brown eyes and they light up with a tint of gold. It’s intense. I can just swim in your eyes for hours and never do I feel I have wasted my day. But best of all you share a piece of your soul with me without fear that I’ll break it. The fact you trust me means the world to me.

I know with you I am always safe and in good hands. I’m appreciated.

But your attractiveness on the outside cannot hold a candle to your inner beauty. One of your greatest strengths is your compassion for others and devotion to me and your dreams.

I will always remember the summer day you ran more than 1 hour to see me, down and up hills, to work through things with me. You always look your sexiest when you’re sweating from all your hard work or hopping right out the shower with hot water dripping down your chiseled abs to conquer the day ahead. I just want to eat you up all over again.

And I know you work so hard and care how I feel because you want the best for me.

What I see in you that you don’t see in yourself is that you’re a loving, caring and absolutely incredible Superman day in and day out! You are the best man for me,whether you believe in yourself or not. No man has every went out his way for me like you do. No man has ever been with me through thick or thin or accept me at my most vulnerable self. Only you have been courageous enough to do so.

I never doubt you can do what you set out to do or doubt your ability to care for me because I already know God blessed you with all the strength and courage a man could ever need to be a great friend, leader, lover and more.

One of the most romantic things you ever did for me was when you put my pleasure before yours. Not only did we have a great conversation about the Easter bunny but you bathed me and made sure I felt comfortable and safe with you. Only a real man takes the time and puts in the effort to please his woman before pleasing his self. Being selfless is what I respect the most about you and made me realize you’re a real man not just some lost dude. You care whether I am hurt and you stand up for me, even with friends and family.

The wonderful things you do for me everyday always make me smile and feel good. You’re the only person in the world that makes me feel wonderful even when I am on my period, feel like crap and think I look crazy…you always point out my beauty and make me feel confident and positive.

The way you make me feel is unbelievable.

My favorite memory of the two of us is when I laughed about the fan taking long to turn on and you go ” Getting old, gotta warm up.” You have the best sense of humor ! And you know what?!?! Don’t ever change that great sense of humor or the kindness that rains from your soul.

The most pleasant surprise you gave me so far, was your tie. I wear it every night. A tie says much about a man,and trust me this tie says all the right things. There’s a S on your chest…and it’s not going anywhere. You’re amazing Superman and you motivate me everyday to be a better woman all the time. I can’t thank you enough. I am so grateful to have you in my life.

You said I never run away from you and I never will baby. Even when you might be moody at times, I understand. You’re doing what’s best for us and working hard to live out your dreams. God is in your favor.

I prayed for you. God sent me you so don’t ever think you’re not the best man for me or that you don’t matter. The stars were perfectly aligned for you to come and stay in my life. 🙂 And I am so grateful for your dedication, passion, feelings and emotions.

Thank you for being the wonderful man you are Joshua and so much more.

Do Not Let Anxiety Get The Better Of You In Your Relationships

By: Stan Popovich

It can be tough to deal with managing your anxiety while in a relationship. Maintaining a relationship is tough enough let alone having to deal with your anxieties. As a result, here is a list of techniques and suggestions on what to do in managing your anxieties while being in a relationship.

In a relationship, we may sometimes encounter a scary situation that gets us all upset. When encountering these events, always remember to get all of the facts of the given situation. Gathering the facts can prevent us from relying on exaggerated and fearful assumptions. By focusing on the facts, a person can rely on what is reality and what is not.

Sometimes we get stressed out when everything happens all at once. When this happens, a person should take a deep breathe and try to find something to do for a few minutes to get their mind off of the problem. A person could get some fresh air or do something that will give them a fresh perspective on things.

Be smart in how you deal with your stresses in a relationship. Do not try to tackle everything all at once. When facing a current or upcoming task that overwhelms you with a lot of anxiety, break the task into a series of smaller steps. Completing these smaller tasks one at a time will make the stress more manageable and increases your chances of success.

Make a list of all the things that you enjoy in your current relationship. The next time you get anxious or fearful, look at your list and remind yourself of the good parts in being with that person. This technique will put your fears and anxieties in a relationship into perspective.

Sometimes, it helps to be able to talk to someone about our stressful situations. Talking to a trusted friend, counselor, or clergyman can not only make us feel better, but they might be able to give you additional advice and insights on how to deal with your current problem.

Although I am a layman and not a professional I have interviewed many psychologists and clergyman and I have over fifteen years of experience in dealing with fear. Dealing with our persistent fears in a relationship is not easy, however there are many helpful resources available to us if you look hard enough.

What’s Attractive in a Man?

If you ask me what I find most attractive in a man, it comes down to 6 things: 1. Real confidence ( he isn’t shallow. He doesn’t have to speak about how ‘he’s the man’ because his actions speak for him. He is okay being unique rather than just another brick in the wall. & he is ok challenging my ego & beliefs). 2. He isn’t boring ( he knows how to create fun beyond sex. He knows how to have adventures when we are broke & when we are well off. He is happy to spend time with me & never makes me feel unappreciated or less than associations he has in his individual life). 3. He is fair & honest. 4. He is a leader & can envision a life that includes a Us building dreams of 2 people in 1 life frame. 5. He has faith in God & prays no matter if his world is going up or down. 6. He doesn’t go to sleep holding anger. —- & Yup, until I know for sure I’m with that right fit for me, there’s no way I’m reciting vows lol.
