Check Out the New Michelin Veggie Snacks: Confetti Snacks Review

Briana Booker, Chief Editor of Fromgirltogirl.com, tries Confetti.
Briana Booker, Chief Editor of Fromgirltogirl.com favorite flavor of Confetti veggie chips. Try all the flavors and help end extreme poverty worldwide.

There is a new line of Michelin featured tasty veggie snacks known as Confetti Snacks. Betty Lu, an entrepreneur from Singapore, created “Confetti Snacks” – a new line of veggie chips that ditch the deep fryer but deliver nutrients, crunch, color and flavor galore. Confetti Snacks are infused with authentic spices and flavors inspired by Lu’s native Singapore and international travels.

These veggie snacks can help you eat more vegetables and less junk food. The Confetti snacks can also help you cut down on food waste.

While traveling the world, Lu was frustrated in her search for a healthy, great-tasting and lightweight snack to fuel her backpacking adventures.  She found the answer in “imperfect produce” – the ones that are considered unsellable due to irregular shape, size or other visual anomalies.

Shockingly 40% of fruits and vegetables end up in landfills each year. Lu decided to upcycle some of these “misfits,” by slicing them up, and transforming them into one of the most nutrient-dense and deliciously crunchy snacks. She goes a step further by inviting consumers to upcycle the Confetti snack box as a planter’s box. It’s a perfect size for flowers and herbs.

Lu doesn’t just do her part to save the planet, she supports humanitarian such as #ColorForHunger .

Support #COLORFORHUNGER

Confetti’s #ColorForHunger encourages adults and children to explore their creativity, and indulge in plant based colors of the rainbow for wellness. For every artwork submitted, Confetti supports the United Nations World Food Programme with 10 Singapore Cents. The proceeds from this Coloring Challenge provide nutritious meals to communities facing extreme poverty and hunger. Also for every snack bundle sold on the Confetti Snack website a donation will go towards the UN’s hunger relief efforts.

Confetti Snacks are minimally processed and never deep-fried, like other veggie chips and extruded “puff” style snacks.  Instead these veggie snacks are baked using a low heat method, the nutrients – and the beautiful colors of the carrots, radishes, purple sweet potatoes and mushrooms in the mix – remain vibrant.

Confetti celebrates the colorful vegetables and fruit in the plant kingdom, by upcycling produce to reduce food waste. They feature award winning gourmet world flavours inspired by my travels around the world, and rich cultural diversity of the cuisines I have experienced. Hope snack lovers enjoy
enjoy them too!”

Betty Lu, CEO of Confetti Snacks

Confetti Veggie Chip Flavors are healthy snacks.

The Confetti Veggie chip flavors include Green Curry, Tandoori Curry, Teriyaki BBQ and Summer Truffle. Mushroom chip flavors include Green Curry, Tandoori Curry and Black Truffle.  Try these healthy snacks today. Confetti Snacks are also available on Amazon.

How to be a supportive boss

Black female boss thinking over today's tasks.
Founder and business executive in the service industry for over 20 years, Jonathan Shroyer has learned how to cultivate and retain the right workers for companies. Anyone in management should learn how to build good teams.

Here are some of Shroyers tips on how bosses can become great leaders to their teams and people:

Work alongside your team members. Leaders who see themselves as team players and work with their teams create an environment that is effective and efficient. Team members feel like they are supported and have a boss they can depend on and look to as a leader, not just a boss.

Acknowledge efforts. When you accomplish something, you want people to acknowledge it, right? Having a boss that recognizes their team members’ efforts and accomplishments can go a long way to improving the company culture. When success is acknowledged, it is more likely to become a common pattern over time, which will help leaders, employees and the business in the long-run.

Operate and conduct business with compassion and directness. Life and mistakes happen. It is important for leaders to conduct themselves with empathy when things happen. A lack of compassion will lead to high turnover, negative company culture and will decrease productivity, with people spending more time concerned about being the boss’ next target than their actual job tasks. When a team member makes a mistake, a great leader will be direct, but kind and work to resolve the situation immediately. If a team member needs to take an unexpected sick day, a great leader will be understanding and compassionate.

Create an environment where professional relationships can flourish. We spend what equates to years of our lives working alongside our coworkers and our bosses. Professional relationships are essential for many people and can go a long way to creating a successful business environment. Great leaders will understand the value in professional relationships and will work to build those relationships for their teams.

Be supportive and listen. Someone who actively listens to you is a great person to have in your corner. You feel supported, heard and safe with people who listen and care about you defend you no matter who is in the room. A great boss understands and listens to their team members.

Experts Reveal How To Look Well Rested With No Sleep

May be an image of 1 person, tree and outdoors

We all know that a good night’s sleep is vital to looking our best and being healthy but sometimes things happen and we end up running on empty for the day.

Dark and puffy eyes and sallow skin are tell-tale signs that you have had no sleep. Whether it’s due to illness, work stress or getting up at night to look after the kids, there are ways to look fresh even after a night of poor quality sleep.

We all have had days we have spent looking exhausted. Some of us pile makeup on.

Health experts at Amerisleep share five simple and natural tricks they use to look refreshed after a bad night’s sleep.

Drink powdered magnesium, or bathe in magnesium salts.

Not getting the recommended eight hours of sleep per night can lead to higher stress levels and inflammation. This will make your eyes look puffy and your skin look tired. Magnesium is an anti-inflammatory and anti-stress mineral. Magnesium has a natural antioxidant effect which aids oxygen uptake, electrolyte balance and energy production.

Add powdered magnesium citrate to a mug of hot water and sip throughout the day. It will help to reduce tiredness and fatigue, and will also help maintain healthy bones and muscles.

If you have more time, take a quick bath with magnesium salts. The salts will soothe your tired muscles, lowering inflammation and minimizing puffiness.

Apply a Quick Coffee Scrub

Drinking coffee is typically the go-to for the sleep deprived. The caffeine may perk you up for a while, but coffee has dehydrating effects which won’t help your skin.

At Fromgirltogirl.com we drink Oaza Cold Brew because it contains electrolytes.

Instead, why not make a simple coffee face scrub?

How to make a Coffee Face Scrub

Combine a cup of ground coffee and two tablespoons of sugar it’s best to use brown sugar as it is more gentle) then add enough coconut oil and mix until the scrub feels like wet sand. Then, gently scrub your face.

The coffee and sugar both act as exfoliants, which will help to rid your skin of dullness, while the caffeine will help get rid of dark under eye circles by causing the blood vessels to constrict. The scrub will last up to two months if stored properly in an airtight container ( must be located in a cool, dry place).

Hydrate, Exfoliate, and Massage

Start by drinking 20-30 ounces, or between 2.5 and 3.75 cups, of room temperature (or slightly chilled) lemon water. Water wakes up the body, flushes out toxins, and combats puffiness. In the shower, exfoliate with a gentle scrub to get rid of dullness by making the skin look bright and dewy.

If your skin still looks puffy, lightly massage the skin while applying a serum or moisturizer. Focus on moving the lymph fluid from the center of your face towards the periphery.

Curling your eyelashes will open your eyes up even more, and a bold lip color (i.e. fuchsia or red) will brighten up your face.

Splash Cold Water, Drink Green Tea

Splash your face with ice cold water. This will brighten your complexion and tighten your skin. Around your eyes, try applying a cream with green coffee extract or rosemary, which will help to de-puff and increase circulation.

Try drinking green tea rather than your morning coffee. Coffee has no health benefits and won’t hydrate you. Green tea is packed with antioxidants and will keep you hydrated. It also contains caffeine, just not as much as coffee does.

Dab organic grapefruit essential oil on your pulse points (wrist and neck), which studies show could cause people to perceive you as looking younger and fresher.

If you wear makeup, choose foundation instead of concealer. A light layer of foundation all over is the quickest and easiest way to look alive in one step, as this will even out your skin tone.

Reduce Swelling with a Cold Compress

The eyes are usually the first signs of a fitful night, followed by the skin.

To combat dullness, exfoliate and moisturize. A skin spritzer can help to wake up your skin and keep you looking fresh. It doesn’t matter whether you use a canned water mist or one from a skincare brand. The cool liquid can feel energizing, too.

For the eyes specifically, makeup will only go so far. If you have time in the morning, apply cool cucumber slices or wet tea bags. Green or black tea is best, because the caffeine helps, especially if the tea has been in the refrigerator before applying to your eyes. This will help ease swelling and increase blood flow.

Finally, a workout can help give you a boost, although if you’re tired it might be the last thing you want to do.

Black Women and Black Hair – A Love Letter

Briana Booker. Curly Hair.

By Briana Booker

You’re about to make us create a podcast by 2023. Most black women with hair have hair volume. This volume looks different on all of us based on our diverse heritage. Black women who grow out their hair ( not all of us want to or can ). Yes, that volume can be brushed straight or sorta straight. Yes, some of us may want to use chemicals. Yes, some of those chemicals can cause cancer or kills us. So, choose wisely.

But no matter what, we all understand, our hair or lack of hair requires extra care. It’s why we call it the crown. The average black woman is multi-ethnic. Some think only fair complexion black women are ‘mixed’ race but there are many ‘mixed’ dark complexion black americans out there. People just never talk openly about what that means and about race in America and around the world.

A significant amount of Black Americans have traces of Caucasian and other ethnic groups. Yes, I use the word ethnic verse the word race for a reason. We will discuss that in the future.

I am just glad people like the Duchess ( Meghan Markle) are opening up about touchy topics, like hair texture. It’s crazy how the topic of hair is a painful discussion based on how we are treated differently. We sadly live in a very racist and cruel world. But we have the power to change the world and make it better.

One thing I can tell you is this: the Duchess, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, you, and even me can change the world. We can grow our hair volume or show off a bald head while we do it. We can grow afros. Yes, I am related to white women who can grow afros. And Yes, I am still trying to grow a perfectly beautiful afro like Michael Jackson ( someone we noticed went through painful moments while breaking glass ceiling of things we know are racial barriers). Mike, wherever you are now, know I am still figuring a way to grow my fro like yours.
