Date Night : Is it a Fling or Love?

Two young people on a date.

Over the years, Stephanie Pawlak has had her fair share of dating experiences. Some turned out great, others weren’t so great. Pawlak believes that relationships are meant to be fun, exciting, and full of laughter. She now helps men and women become confident, attractive, and successful in their romantic relationships at her site https://flingorlove.com

Pawlak is upfront when it comes to dating and asked a very common question from singles:

Does dating someone mean you are in a relationship?

After studying the topic Pawlak realized many people dwell over the steps of a relationship rather than let it happen naturally.

Does Dating Mean You’re In A Relationship? Is There A Difference?

When Pawlak was young, dating meant being exclusive and telling her girlfriends in high school who she was dating. Now dating is complicated. Relationships now feel like a lifetime commitment and people who want that are shamed for wanting it. So how do you protect yourself from getting hurt?

Read more to learn about the difference between dating and relationships.

Here’s the podcast to listen to for great dating advice

Latest podcast from DatePodcast.com

Relationship status for new couples

Are you single and ready to find true love? Are you in a relationship, but experiencing a rough patch? Many of us know the feeling, searching for answers on how to not only find a loving relationship but also keep it up. Although your best friend and family may be there to help you wipe your tears away after a breakup or heartache, sometimes you just need an unbiased source to give you some great dating advice and help you develop healthy relationship goals to make your dating or romantic life more satisfying. Some daters opt for a therapist, but you may want to seek the latest trend of getting solid dating advice… listening to a dating podcast.

Hear us out: At fromgirltogirl.com we recently started listening to The Date Podcast which features new episodes every week, with every podcast being an interesting topic. Marriage and family therapist Emma Pineda and mobile app entrepreneur Zorric Sia launched their new podcast series to help singles successfully navigate the ins and outs of the popular dating apps. The podcast covers the use of dating apps, etiquette, and news.

“Dating apps can be a great tool for men and women to find love, but without understanding how the apps work – and how singles ‘work’ the apps – they can raise as many questions as they answer, especially for new users,” said Pineda, a licensed marriage and family therapist.

Some of our favorite episodes thus far include Episode #5 – Slow Dating, Episode #4 – Don’t Have a Dirty Mirror, Episode #3 – To Ghost or Not to Ghost, and Episode #7 – How Clean is Clean?

Not only is the dating advice and wisdom on relationships valuable but we also cannot get enough of the two podcast hosts Pineda and Sia who are close friends and self-proclaimed foodies. Moreover, we are getting relationship advice from people well-informed on finding and sustaining healthy relationships. Sia focuses on the research and article aspects of the podcast show, while Pineda adds expertise with her therapeutic and counseling skills. We also love how they are on the quest to find “the one” just like we are.

Dating apps are supposed to help singles find great matches, but they often leave users with more questions than answers. This is why Pineda and Sia discuss how to best use dating apps, along with dating app etiquette and news for the podcast series.

In addition to the perspectives and stories provided by the hosts, The Date Podcast features guests who contribute their professional insights and personal experiences.

“We’re finding that everyone has their own dating app stories and no one is holding back from sharing them,” said Sia.

One weakness Sia found by using dating apps was the dependence on direct messaging and static photos. That prompted him to develop and launch bopsee, which is a video-based dating app. “Video prevents the dreaded – and all too common – experience of meeting someone for the first time and discovering that they look nothing like their profile picture,” Sia added.

Here is how you can connect with The Date Podcast on social media via @DatePodcast on Twitter and Instagram. Listeners can tune into The Date Podcast on the website DatePodcast.comiTunes or Google. Their dating app bopsee can be downloaded on iTunes or Google as well.

The Date Podcast is always looking for different dating perspectives, including yours. If you’d like to be a special guest on the podcast or have an interesting dating experience to share, contact Pineda and Sia . They would love to have you.

Dating with conflicting political views and how to cope : eHarmony CEO shares

Political views and love... addressing conflict.
Love and politics. Will they get the best of you? Learn how to cope when your date as different political views from yours.

Have a dating profile on eHarmony and wonder whether your political affiliation matters? If you’re looking to date women, it matters. There has been a 43% increase in women who feel like they need to make their political affiliations known. eHarmony’s CEO Grant Langston recently pulled together some practical tips on how to cope when dating someone with political differences. Here’s the scoop:

Grant Langston Eharmony CEO 2017

How to navigate this unprecedented political time while on a first date:

A first date could easily be derailed by conversations about politics. eHarmony recommends that you not make your first date a debate, but just a happy, high-level,  getting to know you meet-up.  In other words, keep it lighthearted and positive and don’t discuss details about the ex on a first date, the same holds true for any strong political opinions.

Get clear with and know where you stand in the political arena.

If you are passionate about your political party, and it is important to you that a partner also be aligned in that way, it is best to learn the information sooner than later. By date 3 at the latest. Do not invest too much time into someone if you know this is a deal breaker.

“Everything about this guy is amazing, but he loves Trump. And I am not a fan. What do I do?”

Assuming this is not a deal breaker for you, try to really go into a conversation with an open mind-set about why your date feels the way he does. Is it a matter of backing his policies, or does he just like the President’s personality? The more information you have, the better you can make a decision about your date’s judgment and values – and whether they align with yours.

Study reveals financial prowess of singles ahead of Tax Day

Treat Yourself Tax Refund Gamut
Plenty of Fish Survey Shows Cars, Las Vegas and Getting Inked Dominate “Craziest Refund Spends” for singles when it comes to tax day refunds.

Tax Day is just around the corner and Plenty of Fish (POF), one of the largest global online dating companies, surveyed 3,000 singles across the U.S. to uncover the finer points of taxes and finances.

Key Findings

  • Only 11 percent of singles said they spend their tax refund, while 65 percent said they like to save some and spend some
  • When it comes to dating and money, 22 percent of women said they would not date someone who makes less money than them
  • More than 85 percent of singles said they tell the truth about how much they make, and fewer than 2 percent make less money than they claim to make
  • 38 singles spent their tax refund on a tattoo, with women out-inking men 22 to 16

Additional data and findings are available on this infographic, including the craziest things singles have spent their tax refund on (download graphic here).

Savvy Spenders and Savers

  • Nearly 26 percent of men said they save their tax refund, compared to less than 20 percent of women.
  • More than 34 percent of baby boomers save their tax refund, making them almost twice as likely to save their refund than any other age group.

Treat Yourself

When asked about the craziest thing singles have spent their refund on, write-in responses from them ran the gamut between practical and NSFW – and highlight a Mars versus Venus divide.

  • Car Parts: More than 190 men claimed their craziest tax return spend was on a car – the highest response by far.
  • Vegas Baby: Vacations made the top three, but Las Vegas hit the jackpot – 27 men and 8 women claimed this popular destination as their “craziest tax refund spend.”
  • Get Inked: 38 singles got tattoos with their refund, with women out-inking men 22 to 16.
  • Honorable Mention:24k gold grill for teeth, 10 gallons of beef jerky, skydiving lessons… and a horse.

Fast and Informed Filers

  • Twenty-eight percent of singles file their taxes in January, as soon as they get their forms, while fewer than 10 percent of singles said they file on Tax Day.
  • The fastest filers are 20-somethings: 35 percent said they are likely to file as soon as they get their forms, versus only 18 percent of baby boomers
  • When asked how they would rate their understanding of the tax filing process, 23 percent of singles said they had excellent knowledge, 34 percent said good and 33 percent said average.

Additional Tax Takeaways

  • On average, only four percent of men and women have looked at a partner’s tax return behind their back. Coming in at around five percent, men 35-44 and women 45-54 are most likely to peek.
  • The percentage of singles who have charitable write-offs increases in every decade of life – with only 27 percent of twenty-somethings taking advantage of this tax write-off, versus 54 percent of baby boomers.
  • More than five percent of men and almost eight percent of single women don’t file taxes.

For Most Singles, Money isn’t Everything

  • A whopping 89 percent of singles said they would date someone who made less money than them.
  • Women tend to be less forgiving on the financial front. More than 96 percent of men said they would date someone who makes less money than them, but nearly 22 percent of women said they would not date someone who makes less money than them.
  • Women 26-34 are most likely to date someone who makes less than them (83 percent), compared to other female age groups.

Do men like when women make the first move?

Should women make the first move for dating?

It’s a question contemplated time and time again: should women make the first move when it comes to dating and relationships? Do men wait for women to make the first move? The dating site Cupid.com polled 891 single men to find out what men think about first moves from women. Here is what men really think:

Should women make the first move for dating?

The poll results are shocking to Fromgirltogirl. Often growing up women learn from fathers and other male figures to wait for a guy to make the first move and instead invite/ welcome him to get to know you better. Have the rules changed? Or have they always been this way? We would love to hear from women who have made the first move and entered a long-term relationship or better yet a marriage that started with you as the woman making the first move. Rarely have we’ve seen relationships that started with the woman pursuing the man successfully go for the long haul. We feel that a man who truly wants a woman will find the encourage not only to pursue her but also show her he is a man worthy of her time and effort in a health relationship. Curious  how many women feel being less mysterious to draw a man in really is a great strategy for finding true love. Can you find true love on Cupid.com? Will the guy you’ve eyed in the coffee shop say yes to date night if you make the first move? Only time will tell. Like Fromgirltogirl on Facebook and let us know your thoughts on the topic.

High-tech dating safety: How to best use dating safety apps

Via @horror_galaxy Yeahhh definitely not wanting that! 😨😰😱 #joker #harleyquinn #suicidesquad #dc #relationship #dating #love

A photo posted by Netlfix And Chill For Geeks! (@marveldcandchill) on

There’s a saying “On the internet, nobody knows you’re a dog.” Or, perhaps more accurately, “On the Internet, nobody knows you’re a creep.” If you have tried dating apps, you may be well aware of the fear of winding up in a dangerous situation. There have been news stories where people disappear or found murdered by dates they met on dating apps. To make the new world of dating safer, here are some of the best apps on the market for keeping us safe from potential creepers on dating apps. Because honestly, dating is stressful enough.

Find My Friends

Although Find My Friends is typically used to find your drunk friend who tends to run off when she’s had a glass of wine or three, it also has some practical safety applications. Simply add your most trusted friends or family members, then let them know when you’re headed out on a Tinder date. They’ll be able to see your location on a map that updates in real-time when you’re in transit. There’s the classic app made by Apple for iOS and a similar version available for Android.

Burner

The best part about meeting a new potential love interest? Getting their number. The worst part? When they turn out to suck…and they still have your phone number. Solve this problem before it begins by using Burner app to sign up for online dating sites. Burner is a free app that allows users to create temporary phone numbers for various uses. If someone gets your number that you don’t want to have it, you can just “burn” the number and create a new one. For those overly aggressive people who won’t take no for an answer, Burner also recently introduced a feature called Ghostbot. This chatbot will auto-respond with witty quips until the person gets the hint and leaves you alone.

DateScan

Sometimes first dates go really well, and other times they…don’t. For those occasions when you can’t bear another minute with your date, recruit DateScan. This app will “call” you from a contact of your choosing, allowing you to claim an emergency and give you an excuse to bolt early.

StaySafe

If you ever feel like you are truly in danger on a date, employ StaySafe. When you first head out on a date, start tracking your location and activity via the app. Set a timer for however you long you want. When time is up, the app will prompt you to check in as safe. If you don’t, it will alert your emergency contacts that you are in danger and send them your location. Alerts will be sent even if your phone is switched off or damaged, or if the battery dies.

  • The Countries with the Most Singles: If you’re looking to make travel plans and haven’t decided on your destination yet, consider these five countries, which have the highest rates of single users: United Arab Emirates (97.37%), Australia (96.69%), Turkey (96.40%), New Zealand (96.40%), and Kuwait (96.17%).

  • LGBTQ-Friendly Dating Destinations: Need a few LGBTQ-friendly vacation ideas? Indonesia came out on top as the most “open-minded” dating destination when it comes to sexuality, while countries Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa were found to be the most gay-friendly.
