How to keep money from ruining your relationship | Valentine’s Day

Natalie Nelson

Money is one of the most common topics couples argue about, but there may be more to it than meets the eye. Natalie Nelson, Energy Healing Educator & Program Developer for HealersLibrary.com, is here to give the scoop on how to keep money from ruining your relationship. Nelson, who is the daughter of renowned holistic physician Dr. Bradley Nelson, author of the bestselling book The Emotion Code and creator of The Body Code healing system believes some people don’t believe they can have both love and money, while others struggle with self-worth issues that lead to both money and relationship problems. This comes in the form of emotional baggage.

Experts agree that talking about your feelings around money and finances is the key to keeping it from becoming a relationship killer, but how?

Nelson recommends seeking to understand how your conflict resolution style impacts your relationships. The following sample questions you can ask and answer from her “Resonating Relationships” assessment – number each from 1 to 5 (with 1 being what most describes you) to determine your primary conflict resolution style:

What is your typical conflict resolution style?

  • Avoiding ___
  • Accommodating ___
  • Competing ___
  • Compromising ___
  • Collaborating ___

If you are in a relationship, have your partner also assess his or her style. “Our conflict resolution style impacts all our relationships,” Natalie says. “ Work toward always being a collaborator.”

Valentine’s Day: Love & Money quiz – How do you score?

Pamela Yellen Valentines Day Financial Tips for Couples

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and Fromgirltogirl has tips for how couples can boost their financial as well as their emotional and physical intimacy from two-time New York Times bestselling author and financial security expert Pamela Yellen. Read below:

Greater Communication & Trust Around Money = More Intimacy

Couples who improve their communication around finances are more likely to have better sex, as Pamela notes in this Chicago Tribune column. Having spent years conducting research and surveys on how money affects relationships, Pamela shares these statistics:

  • Financial stress causes problems in almost 70% of relationships.
  • 31% of respondents said they have kept spending secrets from each other
  • Almost half of couples never discussed finances before committing to the relationship
  • Arguments about money can throw a wet blanket on sex lives
  • 20% of couples say they would have sex more frequently if they had more money

Pamela’s tips to help couples improve their communication around money

  1. Recognize that money is an emotional issue: Choose a time when you’re both relaxed and not rushed to start talking about money issues.
  2. Regularly discuss finances together: Set goals together, and track your progress.
  3. Agree on how to divide your money: Topics to cover include individual discretionary spending, household expenses, retirement savings, and extended family responsibilities.
  4. Avoid taking on too much debt: Instead of constantly talking about the burden of your debt, focus on your financial goals — where you’d really like to be, and how you’ll get there. Facing your debt as a team can actually strengthen your relationship.
  5. Never engage in financial infidelity – If you haven’t been fully honest regarding finances, now is the time to clean it up! Begin by stating “Our relationship is important to me, so I want to make sure we have a foundation of honesty about our finances.” No matter what comes up, stay calm, and avoid judgment, and focus on positive solutions.
  6. Understand and acknowledge your different spending habits – Seek to understand rather than correct each other. If something in your partner’s attitude bothers you, tell him how you feel and why. See if you can find compromise.

Want to learn how your relationship stacks up when it comes to financial intimacy? Take Pamela’s Love and Money Financial Self-Assessment here. It only takes a few minutes.

How to make money as a Marketing Affiliate Blogger

As a blogger, it is frustrating to try to make money off your website in the early stages /early years of blogging. You don’t want to sell your soul to the devil and you don’t want advertisement to crowd your website or the readability/usability of your blog for readers. So how can you make money as an affiliate without damaging your brand reputation?

The answer is simple, you promote products that are beneficial to your fans and make money at the same time. Remember, as a blogger, your goal is to bring value to your readers while still making money to run a successful blog and help it grow.

To carry out both goals, you need to know how to become an affiliate and get setup the right way.

To become an affiliate you need to apply for affiliate programs and activate your affiliate accounts. Many affiliate programs must require you to generate a certain amount of traffic before advertisers even consider your affiliate application. Don’t be discouraged if rejected the first few times you apply. It happens to the best bloggers.

It took me years to set up my blog and bring value to my readers. Only in the past few years did I learn how to add great value to readership while generating money. It is not easy. In some sense, running a blog is like running a small business, there’s always work to do. Keep up with website statistics and prove to local businesses in your area that you are worth the risks. Yes, there is always risks in any type of business attempt. You have to think smart about every partnership you decide to enter. When you enter a business agreement, you need to deliver on your promises to both your business partners and customers alike.

You will collect your blog statistics through your web analytics as well as your affiliate tracking code. The affiliate tracking code will track your lead and sales ( pretty cool). You can value your blog on a daily and monthly reporting. Really engaging bloggers can make on average $33,862.00 just off commission per year. That is a commission rate of 30%. The key to making big money from affiliate blogging is to strategically find your themes , graphics and services related to affiliate marketing. Own Your Voice To Get What You Want

As a woman, I am starting to learn if I want power over my personal and professional success I need to own my statements. I need to give my voice power. Young girls are taught to speak in a voice tone that is favorable to anyone and everything. It makes us come off timid and prevents us from getting what we want and need in romance and in our careers. So what is the solution? You can speak up for yourself but know when it is better be silent and listen, listening gains you wisdom about the situation. It will never lessen your power. Being the loudest and most arrogant can make you lose power rather than gain it. You can not win every battle, especially when it come to romantic conflicts. Pick your battles wisely. And most of all only apologize once, if at all. You do not have to apologize for having an honest opinion. You should apologize only once at the least and most, if you stated your honest opinion in a disrespectful way. Follow the golden rule. Be assertive( powerful verbals help but like, maybe, I think this might do not work) and do not be a bitch who has to have it her way or no way at all. When you take the bitch way, I can guarantee both your romance and career success will falter. – Briana Booker
