Greece native Lola de Hanna has a new single out entitled ‘Welcome’ you should check out. Lola left Greece to come to New York and study psychology. But life took her on a different course to pursue her dream of writing, recording, and performing music. Pop-rock, alternative, electronic, and metal are Lola’s specialties. She released her first album The Other Side in 2015. It had six songs featuring electronic, indie, pop-rock, and world/ethnic sounds. Now she has her second album out entitled Welcome.  This is a concept album showing both an emotional and musical journey.

We like the concept album for its themes of desires, frustrations, and love. It’s heavier and focuses more on the dreamer than her first EP. Watch the music video for “Welcome” now and listen to her first single off the album via Spotify. We like this song, it has a mellow sound we can vibe to in the early morning, late at night, and during workout routines. For a second album, it’s not  a bad growth. Lola has definitely matured her sound since her debut album The Other Side. Let us know what you think of the new single as well as the album.

Release Notes about the Aquamarine tracks

  • London Lights is a song about London, whether driving or walking … simply taking in the beauty.

    • Kiss It Or Leave It is a song about commitment. When we meet someone special to us, we all can relate to the want and need for someone to go all in or leave us to find the “one.”
    • Spotlight is a song about something or somebody that will make you feel great, or cheer you up, because they make you laugh, or because you just like them. It reminds us of falling in love or meeting a free for a lifetime. The joy of such encounters words often cannot describe, but Amaris does a great job in depicting the emotion in this song.

    • Love Under is a song was about fun, and while recording it Amaris didn’t restrain my voice. It is a breakup song. At some point in life, we all need a great breakup song to vibe to and get us through the pain of a broken heart. It is one of our favorite tracks from Aquamarine.
    • Beach Love is a song inspired by a beach, and a picture of Palau. We plan on playing this song on repeat every summer.
    • Build Me An Ocean is a dramatic song, a breakup song. Yes, we just added to our top 100 list of favorite breakup songs. You mad?
    • She Ain’t Me is a song  we really love. Find out why by taking a listen:

Listen to ‘Smoke’ here:

Fantasies of time and place run as a constant driving force in the background of Los Angeles native Holander’s electro-pop anthems. Raised in a city of people creating their own futures during the day and capturing flashy Hollywood lifestyles at night, Holander became obsessed and inspired by how people morph themselves into what is most viral at any time. The 21-year-old singer-songwriter channels this inspiration into creating stunning music that reflects many of the conflicts faced by her generation.

About Holander

Holander, born Carly Harpur Hollander, grew up in a house full of music. She initially recorded cover songs on piano and guitar but quickly fell in love with the more electronic side of pop music and set out on a solo project to create the type of music she wanted to hear in the world. This allows Holander to pair introspective lyrics with messages meant to directly inspire action, on top of synth hooks that draw the listener to the track and keep them present in the moment.

 Holander’s passion for social change

Social action is one of Holander’s strongest held values. Attending USC for social change, Holander focuses her music on self-empowerment and community empowerment. She writes from a place of strength in storytelling and is known for her poignant and direct lyricism.
Her new  single ‘Smoke,’ is a captivating love anthem about standing on the edge of love in your youth, and choosing to fully surrender. Holander confides, “When you’re overtaken by someone, it’s like smoke in your lungs. I believe when two people love each other, they start to tap in to the universal love— this love that is bigger, and connects us all.”
Holander has packed popular venues throughout Los Angeles and played large festivals and shows that champion a cause. Follow Holander on Facebook and Instagram @holandermusic.

About KrigarèKrigarè ( Kree-Gar-Uh ): the Swedish translation for WARRIOR. Krigarè is known for her strong imagery with intense storytelling lyrics. Her electronic driven melodies, weighted with textured guitars, takes listeners on a cinematic journey of emotions, battles, and empowerment.
Krigarè first got her start in the music industry backing the piano for Kelly Clarkson at the Grammy Awards. Since then, she has learned to carve her own path by breaking into the licensing world of cinematic/pop.
With multiple songs licensed for film and television as well as collaborations with artists from around the world, Krigarè is making her way and leaving her mark.
With her newest album release titled “KRIGARÈ”, Krigarè tells her compelling stories of surviving two different cancers all by the age of 18.

“My life has been full of battles these last three years. It has been by far the most challenging years not only as a person, but also as an artist. I’ve had to my voice again, and decide on who I am coming out of trying times. I am a WARRIOR!”

Although well experienced in acting with credits ranging from independent film projects, the Running and Plates, to major network TV appearances in Crossing Jordan, I’m With Her and Majors & Minors, Krigarè’s first love has always been music. At the tender age of 8, Krigarè played the piano at the 2006 Grammy Award Ceremony for Kelly Clarkson’s performance of “Because of You”. Krigarè also played the lead role in the video version of the same song, and has appeared in other videos for Jarrod Neimann, Tenth Ave. North and Chris Folsom.

Since moving to Nashville from Los Angeles, Krigarè was introduced to song-writing at a very early age. She has had the honor of co-writing with Grammy winning top 10 chart writers such as Matt Squire, Andy Dodd and Jessi Alexander.

Recently, Krigarè has co-written and collaborated with L.A. future/pop band NeoNoir for “On the Hunt”, and with the Dutch hard style band Ecstatic for “Dead to Life”, both currently with over 200k streams on Spotify. Her song “Falling Apart” was selected in the 2017 Nashville Film Festival, and “Destiny” written with Generdyn was licensed for the lm All I See is You starring Blake Lively. Krigarè has been MTV’s featured artist with her songs “Let Go” and “This Time” being heard on MTV’s Teen Mom OG and Siesta Key. And the songs “This Time”, “Thunder”, “Never Stop” and “Falling Apart” have all been heard on Teen Mom Young + Pregnant. Recently, Krigarè has collaborated with Zayde Wølf, Generdyn, Joseph Trapanese of The Greatest Showman, and Grammy winner Jason Halbert creating a new cinematic/pop sound for her newly released album titled “KRIGARÈ”.

Because Krigarè has grown up in the music business with her Grammy award winning father, she has been around some of the most influential artists and musicians, and several have even joined her on many of her projects. Krigarè’s single “HEROES” featured Brian “Head” Welch of KØRN on guitars and Lester Estelle of Pillar on drums. Charles Esten, of the hit television show “NASHVILLE”, has performed with Krigarè at the LLS Light the Late Night fundraiser for 3 years, and Kelly Clarkson has featured Krigarè in her Miracle on Broadway Christmas fundraiser.

Unfortunately, Krigarè’s rise to success came to a halt when at age 16 she received news that she had stage IV Thyroid cancer, and then only six months later was diagnosed with stage I Melanoma. To be diagnosed with two completely different cancers at such a young age was devastating.

Instead of letting this news take her down, Krigarè made the impossible decision to become the true definition of her name WARRIOR, and fight to win these battles no matter what it took. After three surgeries, and much time spent in vocal therapy and exercise, Krigarè has risen from this tragedy redefining her herself. It’s that same drive, determination and passion that fuels her music today.

She studied music in college where she got her Associates Degree by the time she graduated high school. She then took wing to Australia at age 19 for two years. During that time she attended a lm school which launched her into the wonderful world of scoring for short lms, as well as dabbling into makeup artistry for lm. She decided to delve into these crafts further through an audio production course in Montana, and a makeup artistry school in Chicago.

Heidi put the music dream aside for a few years while her makeup career took off. She works professionally doing makeup for lm, commercial, print, runway, bridal, and private clients see http://heidiosborneartistry.com.

Heidi travels all over the country and world with her work, having been featured in Vogue Italia, Voyage Chicago, amongst others. New music: ‘Virtual’ – Arms Akimbo

Arm Akimbo photo shoot for ew music cover Virtual
It’s Friday and Fromgirltogirl has a new single, ‘Virtual’ to share with you from viral Spotify indie rock outfit Arms Akimbo. The four-piece band has found success touring with Walk The Moon, The Animals and Said The Whale.
The single ‘ Virtual’ is about social media and how our generation’s most prevalent form of communication these days is commenting. Peter Schrupp reveals, “we’re no exception to the rule. After a while you just need to reconnect. After a while you miss your friends. This song illustrates that desire to shake yourself and the people around you awake.”

About Arms Akimbo

Arms Akimbo is a maddening series of clichés that manage to form something  truly original. They met in  college and released a self-produced EP (Vignettes)  that  found  quick  success in their Los Angeles hometown. Since then, Arms Akimbo’s Peter Schrupp, Christopher Kalli, Matthew Sutton and  Colin  Boppell  have  tapped  into  that post-college-now-wtf vein of hope, insecurity and fuck it, let’s just enjoy this with their  most recent EP The Wrong Kind Of Dance Party.
The  EP  slowly exposes  us to the moments in college where  we end  up  at  the  end  of  the  night,  sitting  with our  best  friends  in the  driveway  and  wondering  what  the  point  of  life is. Whatever  it  is,  the  band  has  hit  a  nerve.  Maybe  it’s  that  never  ending  nag  that  this  time in  life  is  fleeting,  that  responsibility  is  knocking  hard  on  the  door. At the end of the day, we are living in  an increasingly unpredictable world, the only thing we can count on are good friends and the  moment.

New music: Golden Soul – Polartropica

Ladygunn of Polartropica shows off tiger umbrella
Happy new music Friday! We have a new music video for you from whimsical space pop/psych artist Polartropica entitled ‘Golden Soul.’ The single uses *J-Pop characteristics*, with shimmering dreamlike vocals to create an *electro-pop* anthem. The video details interior struggles and how, with compassion for one another and understanding our differences, there can be healing.  Polartropica has been profiled in media outlets such as Huffington Post, LA Weekly and LADYGUNN. Watch her music video ‘Golden Soul’ below:

About Polartropica

Polartropica is the music endeavor of Los Angeles based, whimsical space-pop artist, Ihui (eeway) Cherise Wu. She was born in Taiwan but raised in California. Wu successfully combines quirky pop melodies, futuristic synths, and classical string arrangements, to create a genre of bubblegum psychedelia.

Polartropica derived after Wu heard a song which couldn’t be defined by a genre – ‘Polartropic’ by Mark Foster. Admiring  the contrast between both ‘polar’ and ‘tropical’, Wu decided to formulate a place where things can exist where they don’t belong. Polartropica fuses elements of complete opposites together with the outcome resulting in a unique, ethereal sound that defies all sonic worlds. Using both organic and synthetic instruments, Wu conceived a visionary dream world for listeners to escape. It’s marvelous. Wu professes, “I wanted to create a healing, inspiring and empowering space with just the right amount of disco-party!”

Integrating 90’s pop, classical arrangements and intergalactic space-pop, Polartropica is guaranteed to feed your imagination, with eccentric and distinguished sound.

About the album Tales from a Room

Tales from a Room was recorded primarily in Nashville, with more vocal sessions in New York. All songs were written by Miriam Waks. The first track “Back to the Jungle” is an homage to artists living in New York City.

“This Room” was inspired by Virginia Woolf’s “A Room of One’s Own” while “Slave to the Song” is an ode to music whose ending features a guest appearance from Tribal Baroque – the avant-garde husband/wife musical duo Lila’Angelique & Thoth (subject of the oscar-winning documentary “Thoth”). Another literature-inspired track on the album is the homosexual love ballad “Song for Achilles” (based on Madeleine Miller’s ‘Song of Achilles’) which sees Miriam assume the mythical identity of Achilles’ lover Patroclus . The politically charged rock anthem “Revolution” speaks to our politically volatile times. “Hey! Little White Girl” is a humorous jab at her own ‘whiteness’ as well as a celebration of the African-American artists she grew up listening to.

All the album artwork is by Kristina Chan, with each song lyric in the booklet having its own illustration by Chan. These add to the whimsical, storytelling feel of the project.

About Miriam Waks

New York based Miriam Waks made her performing debut at the tender age of 10 singing solo at the Sydney Opera House. Since that time she has developed into a highly original artist and vibrant performer who sings in 17 languages and a plethora of musical styles. She has performed at venues and residencies across the globe including New York, Buenos Aires, France, Cuba, Edinburgh, London, Italy, Brussels, India, Macau, Hong Kong & Australia.

Tales from a Room is her first originals album and features 11 songs penned by Miriam, marking her transition from song-interpreter to song-writer. In this album, Miriam traverses a range of musical and thematic landscapes including re-interpreting the feminist writings of Virginia Woolf, assuming the mythical identity of Achille’s lover Patroclus, and playfully poking fun at her own “whiteness”.

Miriam performs with various outfits in NYC and is thankful to live in a place that nurtures the creative passion of so many artists.
