How investing in the member experience pays off: Ashley Madison’s story

In  2017, the President of Ashley Madison, the world’s leading married dating website, led efforts in massive growth for the website while making discretion and user-security top priorities. Now the company has released a new report by Ernst & Young that validates their user numbers, daily sign-ups, male-to-female ratio, and more. In 2017, AshleyMadison.com had more than 15,000 new member accounts daily. For every active paid male account, there were 1.13  active female accounts created in 2017 and the site nearly doubled the number of member accounts joining daily from 10,715 in April to 20,518 per day by October.

Ashley Madison spent the greater part of 2017 focusing the company on its original married dating roots – a space it invented and continues to lead. This report comes as the company is continuing its efforts to create a better Ashley Madison for its members, through platform enhancements and a renewed passion for improving the member experience. Last year alone, this focus on its members and commitment to the married dating space translated to 5,673,024 new accounts on the site.

“At Ashley Madison, our members’ experience is paramount,” said Ruben Buell, President and CTO, ruby Life Inc. (parent company of AshleyMadison.com). “That experience starts with trust; trust that we have built a community of like-minded individuals, trust that you will be able to find and connect with other members in this community, and trust that your experience will remain discreet.”

The company anticipates continuing improvements to the website to make it easier for people to join, find, and connect with one another in more than 50 countries and in 19 languages.

New study shows cheaters prioritize affair partners over spouses

Valentine's Day chocolates in a box

Happy Valentine’s Day! Ashley Madison has just released a new study examining how cheaters juggle their marriage and their affairs on Valentine’s Day. Turns out cheaters prioritize affair partners over spouses on V-Day.

Check out key findings

  • 30% of cheaters rather spend V-Day w/ their affair partners
  • Cheaters are spending upwards of $250 on affair partners
  • Nearly one-third of cheaters celebrate Valentine’s Day with their affair partner

No more sidelines for the Side Piece this Valentine’s Day

Ashley Madison, the world’s leading married dating website, used its unprecedented access to people who cheat to find out how members juggle the romantic responsibility of celebrating their marriage and their extramarital relationship on the special day.  As it turns out, cheaters spend Valentine’s Day very differently between their two partners and prioritizing a spouse is no longer the status quo with almost a third (28%) of survey respondents opting to spend it with their affair partner.

Spouse vs. Mistress/Misteress

With extramarital partners,  people often aren’t looking to replace their spouse, they’re looking to fulfill unmet needs. That said, it’s clear there is a shift happening and the affair partner is rising up the ranks as it pertains to partner priority.

“Typically, holidays and special occasions are reserved for the spouse and the affair partner is sidelined,” says Isabella Mise, Director of Communications at Ashley Madison. “But for Valentine’s Day this year, we’re seeing that affairs of the heart can lead to new traditions with a greater importance being placed on the extramarital relationship.”

Also interesting is that respondents spend about the same amount of money on their primary partner as they do for their affair partner. According to the survey, more than a third of respondents say they spend between $100-$250 on their affair partner, while the same amount (36%) say they spend $100-$250 when asked how much they spend on their spouse. This is surprising because you’d think the main romantic holiday of the year would be reserved for the primary partner, but this implies there is no real distinction between how they view the importance of each relationship.

Cheaters spend the same amount on their spouse and affair partner, but spend the money in different ways.

When asked, 71% of respondents say they celebrate Valentine’s Day with their affair partner by having sex, whereas 73% spend Valentine’s Day with their spouse by having dinner. Cheaters are likely spending their money on their spouse during dinner while spending the same amount on things like a hotel room for the affair partner.

“Between how they spend their money and how they spend their time, the members surveyed are demonstrating that there is an increased investment being made with affair partners,” says Mise. “It will be interesting to see if this shift continues.”

New report: cheaters won’t stop cheating in 2018 . Here’s why.

Cheating for cheaters

Whether you are a cheater or been cheated on,  cheaters won’t stop cheating in 2018. In a new report, Ashley Madison, the #1 website worldwide for married dating and affairs, polled 4,000 of its users to identify the top New Year’s resolutions among those with extramarital partners. Here are the top-3:

  • 34% say increasing the amount of new experiences with their extramarital partner
  • 31% say being healthier by eating better and exercising
  • 13% say spending more time with their extramarital partner

    Findings

Bottom line:  The Ashley Madison data reveals that cheaters are planning more adulterous fun in the New Year.  At the end of the day cheaters are quite content with how their relationships (well, at least one of their relationships) are going and don’t need a resolution because of it. In this survey, 65% of respondents say they are either having an affair or pursuing an affair, of which 73% already have one extramarital partner, with 27% having multiple partners now.

Planning a New Year’s resolution is something that people do when they want to make a positive change in their lives, a change to make them happier, says Isabella Mise, Director of Communications for Ashley Madison. Our members are showing us that they are already happy or on a pathway to finding happiness and that’s why they don’t feel the need to make a New Year’s resolution.

52% of cheaters say spouse not fit, motivation to cheat

Infidelity at the gym ... cheating
Ashley Madison data reveals that infidelity motivates higher levels of personal fitness.

Is getting into shape one of your new year’s resolutions? Don’t give up. Getting in shape is a big resolution each year and Ashley Madison , the world’s leading married dating website, surveyed its members to find out if their extramarital relationships motivated them to live a healthier lifestyle by exercising. The survey results show that cheaters are more likely to stay in shape while in an extramarital relationship. Here are key takeaways from their study:

  • 52% say their spouse isn’t fit and 58% say they wish their spouse exercised more
  • 70% say that their extramarital relationships actually motivate them to stay fit
  • 12% of women (vs. 9 % of men) use the excuse of ‘going to the gym’ to meet their extramarital partner

The findings also go into the top exercises that turn people on (male vs. female) and much more. Check it out below:

Nearly half (41%) of respondents exercise 2-5 times per week and 80% consider themselves to have an average level of physical fitness. But it’s not the new year’s resolutions that are keeping cheaters fit, 70% of survey respondents say it’s their extramarital relationships that motivate them. This goes both ways as 71% consider their extramarital partner to be fit and/or seek an extramarital partner that is fit. Not surprising because let’s face it, healthy is sexy.

But if they’re in search of someone who is fit, does this mean their spouse doesn’t fall into this category? The answer is yes with 52% saying they don’t consider their spouse to be fit and 58% saying they wish their spouse exercised more often.

Working out or “Working out”?

Gyms are noticeably busier in January, bringing new people together and more wandering eyes. In a previous survey of Ashley Madison members, going to the gym was the fifth most common excuse for men (9%) and women (12%) when planning to meet with their extramarital partner. However, in a recent survey done of Ashley Madison members, when cheaters do go to the gym 73% say they are there strictly to exercise and not to seek an extramarital partner. Moreover, 72% are not likely to exercise with their spouse or their secret partner.

Even though they aren’t consciously seeking an affair at the gym, it doesn’t mean there aren’t certain exercises that work as a turn on for gym goers. The top exercise that turns people on most is yoga/stretching (51%), followed by squats (19%).
