Americans want to play more Video Games based on Top Movies, TV shows, and Books

Welcome to Fall. This is a great time for Americans to enjoy playing video games and the cinematic experiences with friends and family.

A new study reveals insights on the growing interest and engagement among gamers. The study, conducted by Solitaired, found over half (51%) of gamers say they’d play video games even more if they were based on popular movies, TV shows, or books!

Top Movies Americans Want to See as Video Games

Gamers were asked to vote on their favorite movies in 2023 they would play as video games and, unsurprisingly, many were drawn to video game-inspired films. On average, gamers have spent $146 on video games in 2023.

Methodology

To determine the most popular video game by state, Solitaired analyzed the Google search volume of 1,752 terms related to video game titles such as “Super Mario Kart”, “Call of Duty,” and “FIFA Online” over the period of April 2020 to April 2023. 

In June 2023, Solitaired surveyed 1,006 self-identified gamers who play handheld console games, esports, and virtual reality games. Respondents ranged in age from 18 to 60 with an average age of 35. 50% were men, 48% were women, and 2% were non-binary.
