Arielle Stricke or REL in photoshoot for single on anexoria

It is a New Year and plenty of new music is coming our way, including music videos. The highly anticipated video from  “Nanagrams” from Los Angeles EVOCAPOP artist R E L. is one you will definitely want to check out. The single focuses on overcoming anorexia, body dysmorphia and eating disorders and most of all it is an anthem for self love and acceptance.

R E L reveals, “Music can heal. I’ve chosen to make a 3-side album to address each phase of healing as its own story & as part of a bigger story. I developed anorexia at a very young age (7) & struggled with it for many years. Side A tells the story of a first stage of healing – facing the problem, realizing you’ve been hurting yourself. Self compassion is the first step towards peace.”

About REL

R E L is LA based artist Arielle Sitrick. She describes her music as EVOCA-POP – a genre the young singer-songwriter created in 2016, derived from “evocative” and “pop.” In short, REL creates music that makes you think and feel.  In 2015, she released a crowd-funded debut EP called r.e.l., which garnered notable praise from music bloggers, industry and fans.

R E L invented her own genre because she believes categories force something (and someone) into a mold. She believes no one fits a mold exactly, it can be dangerous to try or to think you are supposed to.

“I grew up in the suburbs, where we tried so hard to fit the molds. We hurt ourselves, hated ourselves, f*cked ourselves over. I did it for a long time. It hurt…and it doesn’t just exist in suburbs. We do it everywhere. Music is medicine. It’s powerful. Love heals, melody carries, lyrics speak the heart. “
