Recently, my interest in interior and exterior design have grown. In particular, I’m interested in using indoor plants and learning about premier landscaping. I feel the possibilities for landscape design are endless. This inspired me to pick up the book Straight Dirt New York’s Premier Landscape Designer Tells It Like It Is. This landscaping book offers a look inside the world of Steve Griggs Design. It is available on Amazon.com.
When I got it in the mail, I liked that the book had a hardcover and eye-catching designs on the front cover as well as throughout the book.
Inside the book, New Yorker Steve Griggs discusses what his clients want and how he delivers what he knows will work for his clients when it comes to their Tri-state backyards and New York City rooftops. The landscape design book covers renovated backyards, rooftop terraces, side gardens, front lawns, and even interior entertainment spaces to help readers anticipate how they can transform their living spaces into areas they are excited to use and enjoy.
What I love about the book is that Griggs consistently shows how he delivers on the best interests at heart for his clients rather than selling them on something. I think it is important to connect with customers on a value level. Not only does the focus on customer value protect the integrity of each landscape project but it also allows clients to feel like they are part of creating something special, adding true value to their lifestyle. It also keeps us mindful that “quality work is more expensive, but it’s worth it in the end,” according to Griggs. Why? The cost to fix-up work ends up costing people more than what they initially intended. In short, it is best to get something done right the first go.
