| Pet parents are going above and beyond to spoil their pets with over 1 in 5 calling themselves a “crazy pet parent.” A new study shows the most common extravagant purchases for pets include (#1) An object with a pet’s photo on it, (#2) Luxury Pet Products, (#3) A Pet Portrait, (#4) Clothing with a Pet’s Photo on It, (#5) A Robot Litter Box, and (#6) even a Pet DNA Test. Paw-Rents do not need to spend money to pamper their companions. 80% say they like when their pet(s) sleep in bed with them! Other top habits include buying gifts for a pet (65%). Sharing food or beverages (60%). Celebrating a pet’s birthday (56%). Taking a road trip with a pet (54%). The most common pet spending is food, followed by Toys (87%), Litter (57%), 46% Vitamins/ Supplements, and a combined 38% for Collars, tags, and leashes. Methodology
October 2022, Approximately 500 American pet owners were surveyed on their pet expenses and ownership habits. Respondents were aged 18 to 75 years old, with an average age of 40 years old. Respondents were 49% male, 50% female, and 1% transgender/non-binary.
