Briana Booker gives inside look into DoD research hidden gem

Hidden Gem of DoD Research revealed
Do you know how the DoDSR benefits preventive medicine? Learn here.

Currently I’m working in the field of epidemiology and military healthcare reform. This week my first government byline got published and made the front page of Health.mil. The article is ‘Hidden gem strengthens cutting-edge DoD research’, providing an overview of the importance of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD)– the DoD Serum Repository (‪#‎DoDSR‬).  I’ve heard about the repository before on 60 minutes, but had no idea how beneficial it is to military readiness as well as progress of global health. The AFHSB’s military service and federal liaison officers provide timely, relevant, actionable, and comprehensive infectious disease surveillance information to promote, maintain, and enhance the health of military and military-associated populations. You can check out my progress and explore lessons in digital market research with me by following the Armed Force Health Surveillance Branch on Facebook today.

And of course you can find excellent research resources via our surveillance snapshots of global diseases as well as military population case studies:

Do you spend most of your day at a computer? Remember the 20/20/20 rule. Every 20 minutes, take a break for 20 seconds and look at objects 20 feet away. It’s also a good idea to stand up and walk around every 20 minutes! #SaveYourVision #MilHealth

In April I will begin a major web marketing campaign on heat injury. I would appreciate your support in my efforts to improve the military health system for all our service members who sacrifice their safety to protect our nation and families on the daily.
