It’s official. My brother JB has joined the blogger world. What’s his blog? It’s called Simplify Everything. On the blog JB will take a complex idea, event, situation, anything and present it more simply.
Check out his articles today! Expect big things from him.
While I asked my brother about his new blog, I also asked about his thoughts on the Trayvon Martin case. If you all are not aware, my brother is a black young man. A smart, intelligent and friendly black man. Yes, black men with those traits exist.
Here’s what he had to say:

It’s different in Maryland. Florida is different – their gun laws and laws in general. As a woman, you wouldn’t be seen as a threat. This society has always viewed black men as dangerous, giving them the burden of proving otherwise ( Black men and to some degree Hispanic men now). Asian men aren’t really viewed as physical threat or dangerous. It’s all cultural/social/racial/regional/historical.

My question to all is when will it change? Leave a comment for me on your thoughts or Like us on Facebook.

What Are The Best Courses Of Action Against Bullying?

Support LaNiyah Bailey’s global anti-bullying campaign.

Does your child experience bullying in and out of school? If yes, you need to learn about the best courses of action you and your child can take against bullying.

LaNiyah Bailey empowers her community through her anti-bullying curriculum.

Award winning 8 year old author LaNiyah Bailey and her mother Toyiah Marquis of Chicago, IL are proud to share with the community their list of Bullying Best & Worst’s List  which focuses on courses of action to resolve bullying.

Fromgirltogirl has read the list and think it’s a great anti-bullying  guide for parents and children to successfully combat bullying and prevent bullying.

The last thing you want to do as a parent or child facing bullying is to bully the bully. Bullying is a sensitive issue and peaceful conflict resolution is the key to resolving bullying issues.

I absolutely admire LaNiyah Bailey for empowering the community through her “Stand Up” anti-bullying curriculum global movement.

You may recognize LaNiyah Bailey from her recent appearance on the Ricki Lake Show where she discussed her anti-bullying advocacy. She dedicates her life to empowering parents and children to be proactive about preventing bullying.

LaNiyah became passionate about her anti-bullying curriculum after she experienced bullying from peers because of her weight.

If your child is facing  bullying, I highly recommend you purchase your child LaNiyah’s  highly acclaimed children’s books ” Not Fat Because I wanna Be” and ” Stand Up! Bully Busters Coming To Town.” The books offer testimonials to help  children and parents combat bullying.

To learn more about LaNiyah Bailey or to download her list of DO’s and DON’’TS for bullying, head over to her official website at: http://www.notfatbecauseiwannabe.com/bullying-dos–donts-list.html

The Times Are Changing

The best thing I’ve ever done for myself was let my guard down to the right people rather than the wrong people. I don’t surround myself with anyone giving out bread crumbs or think it’s okay to mistreat me when they can treat everyone else with respect. I guess as you age you start to value yourself more and know you deserve to be treated humanely. And you should be brave enough to do the same onto others no matter the circumstance or whether you’ll get something in return.

Joy Of God Reflection

I read something to day that really touched my soul from the twitter account Islamic Thinking. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do:

God’s planning is better than our own, so let God see from you a determined patience, & you’ll soon see from God what will give you joy.

I am taking it one day at a time. Love is patient. Love is kind.

I Don’t Want To Be Your Michael Jordan

If I ever get enough exposure where my voice could move souls or impact a community positively & tremendously, I don’t want to be a Michael Jordan. He never was much of a social activist. Now, Muhammad Ali, he stood for something- social activist and philanthropist. I don’t want to be portrayed as just another form of entertainment – rampant individualism, profit without conscience. I want to be a leader. I want to help people get out of culture shackles. I want people to not be afraid to voice themselves. I want people to pursue their dreams. Don’t ask me to fit your stereotypes. Don’t ask me to keep in line. My calling isn’t corporatism. It’s human rights.

Unapologetically Yours

Nuzzled on your neck & laying on your chest. That is where I belong. J, this is when I’m on cloud 9. I remember the time we were in bed together holding each other. You said to me with a happy sigh ” I wish you came sooner.” You made me feel like the most amazing woman in the world just knowing you wanted me & needed me. There was no where else you’d rather be. At that very moment there was no where in the world I would rather be than with you J. That amazing feeling happens every time I’m with you. J, You’re my sunshine & the most amazing man I’ve ever met. Not sometimes…all the time. I feel that way when I eat with you. I feel that way when I bath with you. You have me feeling like the breeze – easy, free, lovely & me. I really am the luckiest woman! Nobody’s man tops my J. I’m just yours. Nothing else I rather be J. Nothing.

How Black Owed Businesses Can Make Baltimore Thrive

In no shape or form do I want to be a radical of society. However, what I am about to say comes from the heart & I mean every word. A poverty ridden city like Baltimore could reduce crime & get homeless people off the street by establishing thriving black owed businesses. How is that possible? Well for one it will strengthen the identity of the black man and black woman. Blacks shouldn’t feel like half people because we are not half people. We have souls. We have intelligence. We have great ideas. If black owed businesses can grow from the grassroots, Baltimore can slowly but surely eradicate poverty in Baltimore. Black owed businesses could create paid work opportunities for blacks with criminal records, for homeless people & teach black students that they can someday run their own businesses. These businesses can be successful. These business can revive the unity of black families by working together to make black businesses succeed far beyond our imagination. We can even go further and create that networking bridge with Africa to connect black businesses here with black businesses in Africa and other emerging enterprises in developing countries. It’s not about one party benefiting. It’s about making all communities involved gain benefits. The black community needs to invest in emerging markets such as those in Africa, as this is vital. These are just thoughts but someday they will be actions . It starts with us. It starts now.
