The values at the two poles of the list:

  • Maine on one side and California on the other have a drastic gap between them due to the population of California and the demographics of the state, which makes it more complicated for a large majority of the population to own a home.

The USA states that love to travel the most
South Carolina is officially home to the biggest travel enthusiasts in the United States of America (USA). Florida and Delaware rank second and third, respectively.Half of the top 10 are located in the Southeast of the country.
This study can provide an interesting indication into which areas of the USA are home to the biggest travel enthusiasts, with South Carolina residents taking the crown and jet-setting away to new places and Washington residents perfectly happy with sticking closer to home.
New research reveals that South Carolina is the state most ‘obsessed’ with traveling.  The research, conducted by vacation experts Family Destinations Guide, analyzed Google Trends data of the last 12 months for search terms frequently used by travel enthusiasts and often associated with traveling, such as ‘cheap flights’ and ‘vacation packages.’

These search terms were then combined to give each state a total ‘travel score’ to discover America’s most and least travel-obsessed states. The study revealed that South Carolina is officially home to the biggest travel enthusiasts in America.

For instance, South Carolina is the state most interested in travel agencies, having the highest number of searches for the term ‘travel agent’ in the country, and is the state searching for the phrase ‘beach vacation’ the second-most in the country.  Florida ranks as the second state most obsessed with traveling in the country.

For example, the Sunshine State has the second-highest level of searches for the term ‘cheap flights’ and the third-highest level of searches for ‘cheap hotels’ in the country.  Delaware ranks as the third most travel-obsessed state in the country.

The study placed Mississippi placing fourth overall. The top 10 most travel-obsessed states are rounded out by Georgia ranking in sixth place, Wyoming in seventh, followed by Louisiana, New York, and Hawaii in eighth, ninth and tenth, respectively.

5 Tips on How to Make your Home Cozy During the Winter Holidays

How to Make your Home Cozy

The holiday season is around the corner. Pacific Palisades realtors collaborated with interior design experts Jaqueline Hamilton and Nicola Rodriguez to reveal tips on how to make your home cozy this Winter.

Candles and Scents

“Candles can change the atmosphere and ambience of a room instantly” says interior designer Jaqueline Hamilton

“Not only the glow of a beautifully lit candle can cast a lovely feeling of coziness to a room but also the scent can do that too. Choosing a scented candle can create a gorgeous smell in a room and can evoke a feeling of warmth and wellbeing and bring back memories of past winters.”

Designer Rodriguez adds: “Adding a fragrant reed diffuser, oil/wax burner or plug-in gives the room a cozy feeling before you have even opened your eyes. Fragrances such as pine, cinnamon, spiced apple, clove, mulled wine and woody aromas are a must for this season!”

Garlands and Accessories

“Using Christmas accessories such as bowls of pinecones or winter floral arrangements is a great way to make your room inviting and cozy” says designer Rodriguez. Whether it be faux foliage or fresh that you have gathered from the garden, this is a wonderful way to bring texture and the outside in to your living area” adds designer Hamilton.

“Having a fireplace is not necessary, as garlands can be placed on a sideboard or in the form of a wreath on a wall. Adding twinkling lights is another idea to create another lovely mood and display.”

Lighting

Jacqueline explains: “A room should have at least one or two lamps depending on the size of it. During the holiday season, mood lighting is so important and can soften a room, as using the main pendant light in the room can at times be too strong.”

According to designer Rodriguez, a good way to make a home cozy is merging mood lighting to the use of candlelight. This can really help creating that snug feel and atmosphere. It also helps cutting the cost of electricity, which is a plus in our current financial crisis.

Rugs, Blankets and Cushions

“Rugs are such a focal point in any room” says designer Hamilton.

“Rugs are not only for wooden or hard floors, but for carpets too. The shaggier and softer the rugs, the cozier they will make a home feel. They also help to keep the heat in during cold winter afternoons.” adds designer Nicola Rodriguez.

“Adding cushions, throws and blankets on your sofas as well as lined heavy curtains also add that cozy feel to a room. Not only do the blankets keep you snug and warm but by adding textures such as knit, sheepskin, chenille and velvet also combine the cozy look and feel.”

Paint Colors

According to designer Hamilton, pastel colours can look cold and harsher in the winter months and one way of warming up a room can be using a warm dramatic paint color. She recommends colors that are taken from nature in the autumn months, such as rich reds, terracotta and warm mustards, which can all bring a depth and coziness to a room.

Designer Rodriguez adds “If you have areas in your room that look bare, invest in a statement chair or sofa and create a cozy corner by adding a soft lamp on a small side table. This will help maximize your home space and create a welcoming atmosphere.”

A spokesperson for Pacific Palisades realtors comments:

“With the holiday seasons around the corner, people tend to spend most of their time indoors enjoying the warmth and comfort of their homes.  Therefore, we want to create an environment where we can relax and feel cozy, away from the harsh weather. Whether it is an old family home or a newly purchased one, decorating your home for the holidays can be a joyful individual or group activity to set the mood for the winter months ahead.”

[Study] Half of Americans Say Their Dream Home is “Unattainable”

Florida dream home.
Home ownership across generations by the numbers
While the real estate market seems to be cooling a bit, skyrocketing mortgage rates are driving affordability to the lowest level since the 1980s. Americans are taking notice and realizing their dream home may never be in the cards. I wanted to make sure you saw the report I sent last week on American’s dream homes.

More than 1,000 Americans across each generation were surveyed. The study found 90% believe owning a home is part of the American dream but 51% say it isn’t attainable.

Still, renters are hopeful they will get into a home soon. The report includes generational insights on what people are looking for in their ideal home and how many wish to own a vacation home.

If you close your eyes and picture your dream home, does it look similar to where you’re currently living?

For the overwhelming majority, that dream home is just a dream.

IPX1031 surveyed more than 1,000 Americans across each generation about their dream homes. 94% said they are not currently living in their dream home, with the top reason being they cannot afford it.

What would those dream homes look like? Where are the dream homes located? How much would the dream homes cost?

The study found…
 – Modern was the top architecture and interior design style
– 57% prefer new construction over renovating a home
– 35% want four beds
– 38% want 3 baths

The most desired dream home features…
1. A view
2. Big backyard
3. A Large family room
4. Front porch

The top luxury amenities people are looking for are land and privacy (59%), a hobby room (48%), and a home theater (42%).

51% said their dream home is out of reach, with half of millennials estimating their dream home would cost between $500,000 to over a million dollars.

Take a look at the full report, which also includes generational insights on what people are looking for in their ideal home, how many renters plan to become homeowners in the next five years, and which generation wants to own a vacation home.
