How to stop ghosts of Christmas past from ruining your holidays

The holiday season is a time people try to come together for joyful celebration with loved ones in a way that feels loving and positive for all. However, a recent study shows that well more than half —about 61%—anticipate arguments and contention during the holidays. Holistic physician, lecturer and author of the bestselling book, “The Emotion Code,” Dr. Bradley Nelson helps people to let go of unhelpful emotions from the past so they can enjoy the company of loved ones in the present.

Are the Ghosts of Christmas Past Ruining Your Holidays?

In the story “A Christmas Carol,” Scrooge is visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past who takes Scrooge on a tour of the parts of his life that have led to him becoming the angry, miserly man he is today. No matter who you are, you have past events that color emotional reactions in the present. These unhealed, often hidden “trapped emotions” can ruin your chances of living a healthy, happy life.

What parts of your past have contributed to unhealthy present ways of being?

“Do you ever feel that you are struggling under the weight of something that you can’t quite put your finger on?” asks Dr. Nelson. “Perhaps your life is not turning out how you had hoped. Perhaps your attempts to form lasting relationships never seem to work out. You may wish that certain events in your past had never occurred but feel powerless to move beyond them. You may even have an uneasy feeling that your present is being held hostage by your past in some vague and indefinable way.”

  • Emotions you carry from upsetting things that you have experienced are your very own “Ghosts of Christmas Past.”
  • You can change your present moment by committing to a healthier, happier version of yourself. Those old “trapped emotions” can be released through Dr. Bradley Nelson’s Emotion Code.
  • Give yourself the promise of a better future by healing the past.

Photo permission from Guesterly.

We are headed into peak wedding season and there’s a new wedding must-have on the radar. It is called Guesterly – a bride’s new best friend forever. What is Guesterly? It is an easy-to-use, beautiful alternative to a DIY ( do-it-yourself) guest guide. Unlike traditional guest guides, Guesterly brings wedding guest together easier than ever by customizing a mini photobook that includes wedding guests and presents the cherished experience of the event in an impressive way.

Brides rave about Guesterly because it is a cross between a Playbill and a yearbook where photos and bios of each event attendee can be stored and sent out prior to the main event. Think of it as a who’s-who guide for your wedding guests that introduces them to one another so you can skip on the icebreakers and they can get right into the conversation the minute people meet. Remember, not everyone has a friend at the party!

To get started, all you have to do is choose or questions for wedding guests to answer. Then share the custom link with event participants to track responses. Next, customize the cover, welcome letter, program, colors or more. From there, edit and preview your creation to order print copies or a digital flipbook. Once done, watch the magic of your guests connecting.

About Matthews 1812 House: Matthews 1812 House was started in 1979 in the family farmhouse by Blaine and Deanna Matthews. Named after the year the house was built, they started with two fruitcakes and had two small children at the same time! Soon there were baking racks in the hallways and people sorting apricots and pecans on the dining room table. In 1991 the business moved to a dedicated facility just a mile from the farmhouse. With a carousel oven that rotates, and more room, they expanded from their line of specialty cakes into cookies, bars, and other mouth-watering baked goods.

In 2015, Deanna and Blaine retired, and the business moved into the hands of their younger daughter Cynthia Matthews von Berg. She is now raising a small daughter of her own. Having grown up listening to the click clack of her mother typing out order acknowledgements, Cynthia is dedicated to continuing the high standard of customer service that her family set so many years ago. Matthews 1812 House uses the highest quality ingredients available, and they bake all of their products in small batches in beautiful Cornwall, CT. The family owned and operated business has been around for more than 35 years. The National Weddings Examiner is glad to enjoy the family tradition.
