Dear Kay & Thank You For Brown Girls

For Brown Girls Founder Karyn Washington

Footprints in the sand. We all find ourselves living our life, through the ups and downs, the good and bad times. I don’t know why we are here on Earth or what our destination might be, but I always appreciate the lives that have touched me along the way. Karyn Washington (Kay) was one of those lives.

It’s funny how I got to know her. We were both young bloggers with big dreams. Kay followed my blog, this blog, Fromgirltogirl from the start. She told me my writing, my feelings, my thoughts were meaningful. And she thanked me for sharing my life in script.

As the years passed along, I became very fond of her, this beautiful brown girl with a heart of gold and a smile bright as the sun. She’s one of the few people I’ve met in life that really touched souls for the better.

Kay allowed girls to feel proud of their shade!

Thank you Karyn for touching my soul. Thank you for teaching women of color to love themselves and to understand they are valuable too.

God bless your soul and may you be at peace in God’s heavenly Kingdom.

For the fans of For Brown Girls, don’t let Kay’s mission fade away. Please continue to live out Kay’s dreams For Brown Girls … let’s overcome colorism.
