Study: The USA states that love to travel the most

The USA states that love to travel the most
South Carolina is officially home to the biggest travel enthusiasts in the United States of America (USA). Florida and Delaware rank second and third, respectively.Half of the top 10 are located in the Southeast of the country.
This study can provide an interesting indication into which areas of the USA are home to the biggest travel enthusiasts, with South Carolina residents taking the crown and jet-setting away to new places and Washington residents perfectly happy with sticking closer to home.
New research reveals that South Carolina is the state most ‘obsessed’ with traveling.  The research, conducted by vacation experts Family Destinations Guide, analyzed Google Trends data of the last 12 months for search terms frequently used by travel enthusiasts and often associated with traveling, such as ‘cheap flights’ and ‘vacation packages.’

These search terms were then combined to give each state a total ‘travel score’ to discover America’s most and least travel-obsessed states. The study revealed that South Carolina is officially home to the biggest travel enthusiasts in America.

For instance, South Carolina is the state most interested in travel agencies, having the highest number of searches for the term ‘travel agent’ in the country, and is the state searching for the phrase ‘beach vacation’ the second-most in the country.  Florida ranks as the second state most obsessed with traveling in the country.

For example, the Sunshine State has the second-highest level of searches for the term ‘cheap flights’ and the third-highest level of searches for ‘cheap hotels’ in the country.  Delaware ranks as the third most travel-obsessed state in the country.

The study placed Mississippi placing fourth overall. The top 10 most travel-obsessed states are rounded out by Georgia ranking in sixth place, Wyoming in seventh, followed by Louisiana, New York, and Hawaii in eighth, ninth and tenth, respectively.

How to stop cheat meals from ruining your fitness diet

Cheat meals include junk food appetizers and snacks.
Fitness expert’s share tips to eat healthy with cheat meals.
Following a strict cheat meal diet can lead to feelings of deprivation, cravings, and hunger.

Patrick Dale, personal trainer and fitness expert at FitnessVolt.com has prepared this guide to help you eat healthy.

1. Plan your cheat meals in advance. Choose days each week you will have a cheat meal and commit to that food diet schedule.

2. Exercise first. Intense workouts mean at least some of your excess calories and nutrients will be used for fuel or driven away from your fat stores.

3. Do not stock up on junk food at home.
If lack of willpower means you cannot resist eating junk food, make your home a junk food-free zone and don’t buy cheat foods to store for later. This will help you make healthy eating a habit.

4. Keep eating healthy.
Think of your cheat meal day (s) as “one and done,” each week. Then, you continue to eat healthy food each week.

5 Steps Prince Harry Can Take to Reunite the Royal Family

All We Need Is Love. Prince Harry, author of the book Spare, has the ability to reunite the Royal Family.
Relationship expert reveals what Prince Harry must do to reconcile with the Royal family and repair their family relationship.

5 Steps Prince Harry Should Take to Repair the Royal Family Relationships

With Prince Harry’s autobiography, Spare, detailing the break down in relationships between the duke and his family, and the communication between both parties becoming rapidly worse.

Relationship expert Valon Asani from Dua.com reveals the top tips for mending broken down family relationships.

1. Acknowledge each other’s struggles

When being faced with a broken family, often we say, “I don’t know where to start” but what we actually mean is: “I’m scared to start.”

After a family fallout, one of the hardest aspects is to accept that the other party feels wronged in some way by your actions, even if they were not intended to cause hurt. However, acknowledging how the other party feels, whether you agree or not, can show empathy and understanding that can then lead to more effective communication to be built.

Prince Harry has been incredibly open about the many struggles he has faced in his life, such as the lack of contact and accountability, that he feels the Royal family are responsible. The struggles that Prince Harry details in his autobiography appear to stem from childhood trauma and repressed emotions from the environment he grew up in, which many find relatable and can empathize.  An acknowledgement from the family, whether private or public, of the difficulties that the duke feels he is facing could lead to a reconciliation.

However, the same sentiment applies the other way round; Prince Harry should also acknowledge that the Palace may view events differently – as the late Queen famously said ‘recollections may vary’ – and their views are also valid.

2. Find common ground

Reconnecting in a family can often help either party bond, no matter how big or small. This common ground can present itself in many ways, such as an event you may both attend or just a shared interest.

Using something that the both of you have in common can be used as a catalyst for building up communication again.  In Prince Harry’s case, causes that are close to his heart and the rest of the Royal Family’s, such as the Invictus Games, are a chance to rekindle a relationship and begin communicating again.

3. Take the first step and extend an olive branch

This can be a difficult step to take, however if there has been a severe breakdown in communication within a family, it might be necessary. Reaching out to the other party and offering some sort of gesture, whether this is an invite for coffee, a kind letter, or can help the relationship to start rebuilding.

It can also reveal where both parties are at in terms of emotions and if they want to pursue a future relationship. It has been reported that Prince Harry and Meghan have been invited to King Charles III’s coronation in May 2023, which is an olive branch from the family to the couple.

The trauma that Prince Harry has recounted and shared with the world recently can manifest itself in many ways, and Prince Harry likely has feelings of abandonment from his family and is seeking some form of compassion and communication from them. The occasion of King Charles III’s coronation is cause for celebration as we celebrate the beginning of the King’s reign, and such a meaningful and happy occasion may be the perfect backdrop for reconciliation.

4. Set and respect boundaries

If the communication is starting up again, it is important to ensure that boundaries are set to avoid another rift occurring. Establish with yourself the boundaries you would like to set so that the relationship stays healthy and positive for you and communicate those to the other party so that everybody is on the same page. Similarly, listen and respect the boundaries of the other party, whatever they may be.  Prince Harry and the Royal family alike appear to have similar strict boundaries when it comes to the idea of privacy, however both parties’ action this in very different ways. Therefore, when communication starts again, they should both immediately share the boundaries that they are and are not comfortable with.

5. Take it slow

It may be exciting or feel like a relief to have your relationship with your family begin to repair but remember to take it slow. The other party may be more hesitant than you are to jump straight back into the way the relationship used to be, acknowledging and respecting that it is crucial to solving any and all problems.

The Royal family, despite being extensive, are a very tight knit family, therefore, they may be hesitant to let Prince Harry and Meghan back into their circle after this fallout, which is something Prince Harry and Meghan must recognize. If the couple can recognize this hesitancy, they can more effectively communicate and build the relationship back up at a pace that suits everyone.

U.S. Cities That Renters Never Leave

California is home to American cities where renters never leave because the U.S. Housing Marketing is always shaking up.
California is home to American cities where renters never leave because the U.S. Housing Marketing is always shaking up.

Are you renting or know family and friends who are city renters? If yes, it is time to show them the list of American cities that renters never leave because things are shaking up in the U.S. Housing Market.

The running streak of 124 straight months of rising home prices has been put to rest by several straight months of declining home prices in the United States (U.S.).

What does the current economic and housing climate mean for renters?

With rent across the country remaining at an all-time high, it begs the question:

By analyzing the U.S. Census Bureau housing data of more than 300 cities, here are the top places for homeowners and renters.

This report shows where Americans are staying locked in their leases and in a perpetual renting cycle. The top cities with the most long-term renters (people who moved in 22+ years ago) are:

1. New York (415,817 long-term renters)

2. Los Angeles (82,559 long-term renters)
3. Chicago (32,176 long-term renters)
4. San Francisco (25,803 long-term renters)
5. Philadelphia (14,511 long-term renters)

Why aren’t renters buying homes?

When renters are asked why they are not buying homes, the answer varies person to person.

While renters may not have the stability that home ownership provides, they are not always moving around. Find out which cities are home to the most long-term renters. Data analysis via Census Bureau data on renters who have been in the same home for 22+ years.

This nationwide survey found 71% of renters want to buy a home and the top deterrents include money, interest rates, and debt.

Take a look at the full report for more data on the cities with the most renters and homeowners.

In November 2022, the U.S. Census Bureau conducted a survey of 1,003 people from around the U.S. Among respondents, 48% identified as male, 49% as female, and 3% as non-binary or transgender with an average age of 39.

Methodology

This housing data from the U.S. Census Bureau, analyzed more than 300 cities with a population of 100,000 or more to determine which cities are home to the highest percentage of owners and renters. It also analyzed the cities with the most tenured renters by looking at renters who have lived in the same home for 22+ years.

Interior Design Expert Tips on How to make your Home Cozy for Christmas

Experts reveal five interior design tips on how to make your home cozy this Christmas.

With the holiday season here, Pacific Palisades Realtors collaborated with interior design experts Jaqueline Hamilton and Nicola Rodriguez to reveal tips on how to make your home cozy this Christmas and this Winter.

Candles & Scents

“Candles can change the atmosphere and ambience of a room instantly” says interior designer Jaqueline Hamilton

“Not only the glow of a beautifully lit candle can cast a lovely feeling of coziness to a room but also the scent can do that too. Choosing a scented candle can create a gorgeous smell in a room and can evoke a feeling of warmth, wellbeing, and bring back memories of past winters.”

Designer Rodriguez adds: “Adding a fragrant reed diffuser, oil/wax burner or plug-in gives the room a cozy feeling before you’ve even opened your eyes. Fragrances such as pine, cinnamon, spiced apple, clove, mulled wine and woody aromas are a must for this season!”

Garlands & Accessories

“Using Christmas accessories such as bowls of pinecones or winter floral arrangements is a great way to make your room inviting and cozy” says designer Rodriguez.

“Whether it be faux foliage or fresh that you have gathered from the garden, this is a wonderful way to bring texture and the outside in to your living area,” adds designer Hamilton.

“Having a fireplace is not necessary, as garlands can be placed on a sideboard or in the form of a wreath on a wall. Adding twinkling lights is another idea to create another lovely mood and display.”

Lighting

“A room should have at least one or two lamps depending on the size of it. During the holiday season, mood lighting is so important and can soften a room, as using the main pendant light in the room can at times be too strong” explains Jaqueline.

According to designer Rodriguez, you can make a home cozier by merging mood lighting to the use of candlelight. This can really help create a snug feel and atmosphere. It also helps to cut the cost of electricity, which is a plus in our current financial crisis.

Rugs, blankets & cushions

“Rugs are such a focal point in any room” says designer Hamilton.

“Rugs are not only for wooden or hard floors, but for carpets too. The shaggier and softer the rugs are, the cozier they’ll make a home feel. They also help to keep the heat in during cold winter afternoons.” adds designer Nicola Rodriguez.

“Adding cushions, throws and blankets on your sofas and lined heavy curtains also add that cozy feel to a room. Not only do the blankets keep you snug and warm but by adding textures such as knit, sheepskin, chenille and velvet also combine the cozy look and feel.”

Paint Colors

According to designer Hamilton, pastel colours can look cold and harsher in the winter months and one way of warming up a room can be using a warm dramatic paint colour. She recommends colours that are taken from nature in the autumn months, such as rich reds, terracotta and warm mustards, which can all bring a depth and coziness to a room.

Designer Rodriguez adds “If you have areas in your room that look bare, invest in a statement chair or sofa and create a cozy corner by adding a soft lamp on a small side table. This will help maximize your home space and create a welcoming atmosphere.”

A spokesperson for Pacific Palisades realtors comments:

“With the holiday seasons around the corner, people tend to spend most of their time indoors enjoying the warmth and comfort of their homes.

Therefore, we want to create an environment where we can relax and feel cozy, away from the harsh weather.

Whether it is an old family home or a newly purchased one, decorating your home for the holidays can be a joyful individual or group activity to set the mood for the winter months ahead.”

10 Best Workouts for the New Year

Best workouts for the new year you can do right at home. Woman doing exercises in her living room.

The end of the year is always a busy, festive time. It is also a time when people stack on more weight. To help you stay healthy and fit in the new year do these full body exercises.

Expert reveals 10 best full body exercises for a busy schedule

There is no denying that the lead up to Christmas and the New Year is a very busy time and leaves little for exercising, but that is where fitness expert Fitness Volt comes in to help those who want to live a healthy lifestyle. In a bid to help you stay fit from the comfort of your home when you have time, below are 10 exercises you can tailor to work for you.

The B-Stance Hip Thrusts can be done with or without weights. It requires nothing but a sturdy raised surface to build up your Glutes. Do a
lower-back friendly exercise such as the B-Stance hip thrusts daily or weekly. This exercise is suitable for all levels of exercise. Simply sit on the floor with your back against a sturdy bench/chair while keeping one leg bent and the foot flat on the floor.

The other remains straight resting the heel on the floor. Drive the flat foot into the ground and focus on the heel to push the body up and parallel with the floor, then lower bottom to the floor slowly and repeat for desired number of reps. Three sets of 12 is typical for any exercise but this can be adjusted to a person’s ability or time schedule.

Single-leg Romanian Deadlifts work mainly the glutes and hamstrings, but also work on the hip abductors and adductors. An exercise that is easy on the lower back and knee, this exercise also improves strength, balance, and mobility, and can be done with or without weights. Standing with feet together, hinge forward at the hips and raise one leg behind you until your body is parallel with the floor. Before lowering the leg back and raising your torso back up, take care not to round the back. Repeat for as many reps as desired, then do the same for the other side.

Shoulder and Biceps. Using bodyweight, pike push-ups are a great exercise to strengthen and build the shoulder muscle, the deltoid.  To perform this exercise, stand in down dog but with tip toes, bend your arms at the elbow while keeping the back straight. Ensure you bend your arms outwards rather than keeping the elbows tucked to your sides.

Dumbbell lateral raises are often done using weights, but can be swapped out for alternatives like water bottles. Because of the nature of the exercise heavy weights are not required; the number of reps will make the main difference. Holding your weight or alternative in each hand, extend arms out to your sides. Bracing abs and holding shoulders back, bend your arms at the elbow slightly before hinging them down at the shoulders about halfway. Lift them back up to parallel and then lower all the way down to sides. Repeat.

Windshield Wipers are tough exercises, which target the obliques. The exercise changes in difficulty depending on the position of the legs so it can be altered according to level. Lay on your back with arms outstretched but with legs straight and facing up to focus abdominals and sides. Lower legs over to one side keeping them together and lowering them as close to the floor as possible without lifting your shoulders or back off the floor. Return legs to center and do the same on the other side. Do as many of these as you can.

Reverse crunches work the lower section of your abdomen. No weights are required for this exercise making it a great at-home ab exercise. This exercise involves laying on your back with legs bent and arms flat on the floor, lifting the hips towards the sternum using abs with little to no assistance from the arms on either side.

Squat jumps work every muscle in the legs. It is also a fat-burning and cardio exercise. It can be done with or without weights, but due to its explosive nature, it is encouraged that supportive, cushioned shoes are worn to protect the feet, ankles and knees on impact. Begin in a wide squat position then jump as high as possible with straight legs, keeping the quads and glutes contracted, and using arms for momentum. Land lightly on slightly bent knees to absorb the shock. Do as many as possible, imagining the floor is hot to make the most of the exercise.

An effective bodyweight-only exercise, walking lunges work the quads, hamstrings, and glutes. High reps can outweigh the lack of weight. Standing with feet together, keep hands on hips while and take a large step forward. Then, do the same with one leg and the other leg. Repeat until the intended number has been reached.

Back Skydivers require no equipment at all apart from a mat. Using bodyweight, this exercise is great for posture and to counteract the effects of long periods of sitting. This exercise is most effective when the position is held for a few seconds, slowly released before going back into it again. Simply lay on your front with legs straight and palms on the floor either side of your head. Lift your legs, head, chest, and arms off the floor while sliding shoulders back and down.  Hold the position for a few seconds before lowering down slowly, and then repeat.

No space for a rowing machine at home can be countered by doing seated resistance band rows instead. A resistance band can be used to replicate most bodyweight and machine exercises. Using a resistance band looped around the feet is a great alternative to cable seated rows, and also much better for storage. Sit down and pull the band back keeping shoulders away from ears and arms tucked by your sides. Keep abs contracted, and repeat reps as required.

Commenting on the findings, a Fitness Volt spokesperson said:
“The great thing about these exercises is that you can stay on top of your health and fitness with little to no cost, and from any place at any time. The exercises work together to ensure a full body workout, but each can be done in isolation and amended according to the person doing them – they’re effective whether you’re a seasoned exerciser, or just starting out on a fitness journey.”

One problem the Pair Eyewear team had to resolve was keeping eye wear affordable for all ages. The eyewear industry is dominated by a single company that has kept prices artificially high, especially for kids eyewear.

One in 100 World Cup players is called José. It is the Spanish form of Joseph. Examples include Argentine player José Luis Brown who scored the opening goal, which led his team to victory against West Germany in the 1986 World Cup final.

Carlos is the second most popular name, with 79 players. It is a variant of Charles, meaning “free man”. Carlos Verri, aka “Dunga”, led the Brazilian national team to a World Cup victory against Italy in 1994, lifting the World Cup trophy. He managed Brazil twice afterwards.

Luis is the third most popular name, with 56 World Cup players. Meaning “renowned warrior.”It was once in the top 50 US names. The current manager of the Spanish national team, Luis Enrique, represented Spain in three World Cups: 1994, 1998 and 2002.

Mario. There are 48 Marios throughout World Cup history, which is the fourth most popular name. It was once an United States of America (U.S.) top 100 name, but its popularity began falling a few years after the first Super Mario game was released in 1985. German player Mario Götze scored the winning goal against Argentina in the 2014 World Cup and made a surprise return to the 2022 national team.

Roberto. As the fifth most popular name, there have been 46 Robertos in the World Cup. Its English variant, Robert, was once the number-one name in the USA. John. Originally a biblical name, John has stood the test of time. There have been 44 players with this name in the World Cup. John Barnes, now known as a pundit, made his World Cup debut for England in 1986 during the quarter-finals against Argentina, where he assisted a goal for Gary Lineker.

Peter. Behind John and David are 42 World Cup players named Peter. Meaning “rock,” it might be no surprise that two famous goalkeepers carry this name. Peter Schmeichel and Peter Shilton represented Denmark and England, respectively, at the World Cup, and both held the record as the most-capped player in their national teams.

Juan is a popular Spanish name and the ninth most common in the World Cup, with 41 appearances. Argentine player Juan Verón and Spanish player Juan Mata made multiple appearances at the World Cup and inherited their names from their footballing fathers.

Jorge. Rounding off the most popular names at number ten is Jorge, with 39 World Cup players. It is the Spanish and Portuguese version of George meaning “farmer.” Chilean midfielder Jorge Valdivia represented his national team in World Cup 2010 and 2014 and was praised by Pelé and regarded as one of the best in the world by Carlos Valderrama.

A spokesperson from Gamblingngo.com commented on the findings:

“Football fans dream of representing their national team in the World Cup. This study highlights the most common names to appear internationally throughout history. Classic names, mainly Spanish and Latin, make up the most popular names. It is not apparent that these names dictate skill. However, legendary players will likely continue to influence the names of future footballing generations, much like how the popularity of the name Cristiano soared as Ronaldo rose to prominence.”

Methodology: Data was gathered from a public World Cup database containing almost 8,000 player names in each World Cup tournament from 1930 to 2018. Formulas counted the names to determine the most popular World Cup names in history. The database can be found here: https://github.com/jfjelstul/worldcup
